This is the best yard tool I have ever purchased. Works even better than expected. I am a woman, 45+ years of age and have NO problem balancing the chain saw, even with both extensions connected! Perfect balance. Little chain saw is not that heavy and yet cut through some fairly large branches (5-6″). Battery lasts about 30-35 minutes, so – not a bad idea to have a second battery for longer branch trimming sessions (about an hour is enough for me!) VERY happy with this tool – I have since purchased the B&D 18v blower and string-trimmer to complete my yard tool set (and the 18v B&D batteries can be shared!)

I bought this because a professional arborist wanted $300 to prune the tree in front of the house. My job ain’t as pretty, but I got it done. The saw works great on large branches. Not so much so on smaller branches that flex so it can’t get a bite and ends up leaving splintered ends. For the cleanest job you’d want to use a pole trimmer on the small stuff. I’m hoping the leaves will just grow back and cover my imperfections.

Two things you need to know if, like me, you’re inclined to just charge up the tool and go to work. #1 the chain needs frequent re-tightening during the first hours of use. (A little wrench is included to do this… very simple.) #2 don’t forget to OIL THE CHAIN… something that’s self-evident to people who’ve used a big chain saw but not intuitive to the rest of us.

I bought this pole chainsaw to cut branches that were too high for me to reach normally. After reading the instructions thoroughly several times, I got the nerve to try it. Worked great using the first two parts, but it was a little heavy. You really do need to check the chain for loosening the first time you use it. It does loosen. And, you have to be careful with small branches that wiggle. The larger ones cut great. I have not tried the extra middle extension because I’m worried it will be too heavy for me. I’ll have to find a neighbor to help me out. Otherwise, I’m very pleased with it. I’m 5′1″ and 61 years old. I’m sure someone a little stronger would be able to use it just fine at the longer length.

I have been using this saw for about 2 month’s and I love it. It work even better than I ever thought it would. It’s easy to handel cut’s through the limb’s very quickly. The battery life is good it last about as long as I do. Joe

The saw works as described, it is easy to tighten the chain, etc. The only drawback is how quickly it drains the batteries. I recommend having at least 2 batteries for the saw, I have three including the one that came with the saw and that has enough juice to do a medium size tree. The saw comes with a very nice bag that holds all of the parts when taken apart. I also like the feature of two different lengths since it can get heavy after long periods of use.

Until I received my Black & Decker NPP2018 I was climbing 20 foot ladders to trim my palm trees. Each time I held the ladder with one hand while sawing the thick palm stalks with the other.

Thank you Black & Decker for a well-designed tool, Upon receipt, the only thing I had to do was tighten the 2 silver screws that keep good tension on the chain. Used some PAM cooking spray as lubricant and voila… this baby has been trimming every tree and bush in my yard with ease. Only downside to any battery-powered tool is that you must change batteries or recharge them. Fortunately for me, I already had several other B&D tools that use the same 18V batteries.
